Huw Edwards becomes an overnight sex symbol following weight loss

Huw Edwards’ presenting technique wasn’t the only thing catching the attentions of viewers during coverage of Prince Harry‘s wedding to Meghan Markle last week.

The BBC news anchor had fans tittering over his dapper, slimline, tanned new look – having evidently lost weight and buffed up.

As viewers of the royal nuptials branded him ‘a stone cold fox’ and declared that he had ‘definitely been gyming it for the big day’.

Makeover: Huw Edwards (left, earlier this month and right, in 2007) sent fans into overdrive with a dapper, slimline, tanned new look at the royal wedding last week, as it was revealed that he has lost three stone in weight

And indeed, it transpires that the journalist, 56, has shed three stone after taking on a new boxing regime with ex-pro Clinton McKenzie.

According to The Sun, Huw is understood to have dropped from 16 stone to 13 stone, telling the publication: ‘I feel better than I have for years and it’s great getting so many compliments.’

And the compliments were coming in thick and fast during the BBC’s coverage of the royal wedding.

One person posted: ‘Huw Edwards a stone lighter and with a St Tropez looking ten years younger!’

Another echoed: ‘When did Huw Edwards turn into such a silver fox?’

Another wrote: ‘My wife just said… “Huw Edwards is looking good and lost a bit of weight”… and followed up with a look that said, “do what he did, pronto”. So… what did you do Huw?!’

Someone else typed: ‘Huw Edwards is looking fit. Such a crush on him!’

Others mocked him, however, for laying on some fake tan: ‘Why does Huw Edwards look like a mahogany sideboard just came to life?’

Recreate Kirsty’s look in a red top by Roland Mouret

Kirsty Young was on hand to make sure we didn’t miss a moment on the day of the Royal wedding, and didn’t she look great as she fronted the BBC’s coverage?

As Desert Island Discs devotees, we were delighted to hear Kirsty commentating on Meghan and Harry’s big day, and since Roland Mouret was one of the designer labels in the mix to make the bride’s gown, this top was a great choice.

We love the striking red hue, but of course it’s really all about those statement sleeves. Between the flattering flared shape and contrast fringe trim, it would make a very stylish addition to your wardrobe.

Meanwhile, the coverage of the royal wedding came under fire from some viewers, who slammed the BBC for ‘dumbing down’ the occassion.

Public broadcaster BBC chose presenters Kirsty Young and Dermot O’Leary for the big day, alongside Huw.

Yet many were left baffled Dermot’s addition to the line-up, and took to social media to bemoan his skills and express their longing for David Dimbleby – who until recent years was the main presenter for important state occasions, such as the golden jubilee celebrations.

The BBC’s programme was branded ‘boring and embarrassing’ yet ITV was deemed ‘top class’ as viewers decided who presented the royal wedding best.

Fronting the ITV coverage was Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham from a purpose-built studio in the Berkshire town.
